Jun. 9th, 2011 05:53 pmBernie Sanders has a point: US taxpayer-funded museums and their gift shops should make a point of selling stuff made in the US. Not all the stuff, of course, but as much as possible. Especially when we're talking busts of US presidents.
In a few weeks, I'm going to do my annual consciousness-raising and ask people wearing "patriotic" items around July 4 where that item was made.
Note that I have no particular issue with stuff made elsewhere, just if we're shopping on price alone (as people often do) and not thinking about the larger picture, we're making the local situation worse than it already is.
