As a part of my job, I regularly visit international news sites, though I don't really make a point of it; it just happens. As a side effect, The Guardian has been on my top sites, so I occasionally click and see what's up in the world.

Anyhow: Defector admits to WMD lies that triggered Iraq war. I saw no coverage of this on US news sites. Search on CNN for example, almost nothing. WaPo had this entry, but it wasn't linked on the front page on the day it was published.

When you talk about 23,000 several thousand US soldiers dead and ~100,000 total dead (picking a medium number from here), that's a lot to hinge on one source. Imho, more people died as a result of the conflict than would have died under the remaining life span of Saddam Hussein.

Why isn't this bigger news?
