An Amazing Pen Chest

deirdreI got a call from Bittner today about this pen chest. "Did you see the email?"
I thought I had, but only later I realized I'd missed it somehow, probably when my mail server was offline for a week.
Bob tells me it's 111 pounds of bronze and since I had a bronze pen, I should come look at it if I could, and it was leaving for Hawaii later on Saturday....
I mentioned it to my mom, who said she'd never been to Carmel let alone Bittner, so we trundled off in the car and headed south for two solid hours on the road.
I really wasn't prepared for it. Here's some shots of the top:
