Father Geoffrey Farrow's Struggles

Father Geoffrey Farrow, recently a Catholic parish priest in Fresno, has been suspended for coming out as gay and in opposition of prop 8.

What struck me as remarkable is his wonderful answer in this exchange that's recounted:

Not long ago, he saw a woman crying in a church hallway and asked what was wrong.

"My son just came out to me," she said. "I was having a dinner party and I told him he couldn't bring his boyfriend."

"Do you know what you just did?" Farrow asked her. "You just told your son he was not as important to you as your dinner guests."

What great perspective.
