Public Service Announcement about credit, especially since I see people on my flist struggling with both credit issues (mostly in the past) and loss of income.

If you're having debt issues, or credit issues, can I strongly suggest that you get over to Creditboards.com and learn more?

If you're proactive, you can minimize a lot of the damage that would otherwise happen, and that may help you both employment-wise and credit-wise.

Having a higher FICO score and being able to borrow money at lower rates may be the difference between making it through a rougher-than-planned-for spot and not making it.

Plus: there's someone who's been through whatever it is that you might need help with. With 3 million posts and 70,000 users, there's something for everything.

For example, did you know:
1) Citibank is no longer accepting credit limit increase requests in several states without documented proof of income WAY above the national average?

2) People have been documenting not only having accounts closed because of where they shop (on their Visa/MC/Amex), but also how their employers are paying their own bills?

3) That GMAC will no longer be financing for people with FICO scores under 700, which rules out about 2/3 of Americans?

4) That, with no more money, but just more knowledge about how the FICO game is played, you could probably easily improve your score 10-30 points, which may be enough for the next rate tier? Or qualify to get a new car when you actually need it?
