Rick and I were wandering around in Santa Cruz today and decided to stop in at the UCSC Arboretum. Much to our amazement, the arboretum specializes in plants of the southern hemisphere, specifically South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.

(My photo set is mid-renaming, so the picture URL may need to be updated, but the link will still work.)
So if you're skipping Worldcon and want the alternate hemisphere experience, perhaps that's a good location for it.
We also saw a bevy of quail cross the path -- I've posted a bad pic as I only had one lens with me and thus nothing to capture elusive quail.
