One Small Thing

The woman checking my boarding pass asked me to say my last name, then my first name. She didn't ask it of the people immediately ahead of or behind me.
Somehow, I think this wouldn't happen if my name were Matt Smith.
I realized that this wasn't the first time I'd been asked, though sometimes it's seemed like genuine curiosity. This time, it sounded like a test given only to people with obviously ethnic names.
