Movies: Sex and Death 101
Mar. 19th, 2009 02:25 amFor the second 2008 release of a science fiction film you probably hadn't heard of, I offer Sex and Death 101, the second film directed by Daniel Waters, the writer of Heathers. Like Heathers, it also featured Winona Rider, though due to the nature of the movie, in a lesser role than in Heathers, though she does play an interesting femme fatale.
Simon Baker is the star, and if you liked his bad boy role in The Devil Wears Prada, you might like this one as well. If you loathe bad boy roles, skip this flick.
At the beginning of the movie, Roderick thinks he's ready to settle down, only he's not.
It had some "You did not just go there" moments, but it also had redeeming qualities too. Each of the women (and there definitely were a few) were distinct despite, how to put this, limited screen time to develop each character. There's also some great timing.
The movie definitely puts an interesting comedic touch to the idea of emails that shouldn't be sent getting sent.
Simon Baker. Fairy wings. Just sayin'.
