I bring this blessing not out of hatred, but rather out of the realization that not all change comes easily, and some comes only with great tribulation. I do believe it is time for tribulation. After all, tribulare means to press or oppress.

In the Tarot, the Tower card represents what can most politely be called "sudden change." There are several change cards in the Tarot: The Wheel of Fortune is the "constant incremental change" card, where the Tower card is the "your abusive spouse suddenly up and dies" kind of card.

I am a Tower card. I have a way of saying something or doing something that causes people to shift uncomfortably. Ultimately, the new place is a better place, but the process is unpleasant.

If you voted YES on Prop 8

At more than one point in your life, you almost certainly stood in front of the flag, placed your hand over your heart and pledged allegiance, ending with "and liberty and justice for all." Did you forget that?

Your reason for breaking your oath is not my concern.

That you felt it was your civic duty to deprive my fellow citizens and myself of our rights is my concern. It gives me karmic cause, for, as a minister, I can no longer perform legally-valid weddings for same-sex couples. As a follower of three inclusive traditions, I can no longer participate in wedding ceremonies and enjoy celebrating same sex couples' legally-valid weddings.

Maybe it's okay with you, but let's put it this way: how would you feel if we made the Covenant of the Goddess (an umbrella church for Wiccan covens) the state religion and required you to tithe? That's what a state religion is like in several European countries we visited recently.

If you value religious freedom at all, you also need to value my religious freedom even if you don't approve of my choices.

Are we clear on that?

Because that is my karmic cause. That is why I can ask for retribution against each and every one of you, jointly and severally. Furthermore, I can ask it in the name of each and every one of the deities I serve. I can also ask it in the name of the deity (or deities, depending upon perspective) who many of you serve because you broke your oath there too.

For those of you who contributed to the campaign of lies Prop 8 told, I suspect many of you, in particular those of you who claim to honor the Bible or Torah, need to go back and read the ten commandments -- especially the ninth.

You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.

A simple "I'm sorry" isn't good enough. Some of you stole money from others by your false witness. Some of you stole votes by your false witness. All of you, collectively, stole civil rights that you'd sworn to uphold.

I am invoking my full Tower capability to influence your life until such time as you have a change of heart about your position, and I feel a huge energy surge of other power flowing out to reach out to every one of you.

For those of you who contributed significant time, money, or your vote in support of this gross injustice: a change of heart will not be enough. You will also need to pay to the opposing side three fold the energy you caused other people to expend. Three fold the years of their life they spent fighting. Three fold the money you spent PLUS three fold the money they spent. Three fold the votes. Three fold the heartache. Minimum.

Until then, may Hecate confuse your path and lead you the wrong or long way, may Oshun take her river of love (and the money that goes along with it) away from you and toward those who honor love and commitment for all, may Brigid ensure that the fires you need never burn, especially in winter, and the metal you need never be forged, and may your vehicles run with difficulty (on a good day), may Eshu ensure that you are taught by his pranks and leading you astray, may Olokun deny you the patience and insight needed to succeed.

You thought gay marriage was bad, but now you're going to get personal attention from deities some of you confuse with Satan. Won't that be fun?

Some might call the above a curse. I do not. Ultimately the goal is a tempered heart, which is a blessing.

And may those who voted no benefit from all of the havoc above and succeed beyond your wildest dreams, and, one hopes, teach the yes voters a thing or two about living a life where one honored the ninth commandment and one's oath to one's country.

While I'm not Christian, one of the things I like about some of what Jesus said is that he is about loving people.

"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." -- Matthew 22:36-40

Christ didn't say love your gay neighbor but treat him or her as less than yourself.

"Then neither do I condemn you," Jesus declared. "Go now and leave your life of sin." -- John 8:11
